Kala Schmidt earned her Juris Doctorate at Hamline University School of Law (now Mitchell Hamline School of Law) in St. Paul, Minnesota. During her time in law school, she was a scholarship recipient, a member of the Dean's Honor Roll, and winner of the CALI Award in a variety of legal disciplines including Negotiation and Restorative Justice.
Ms. Schmidt is also certified in Alternative Dispute Resolution, having graduated from Hamline's Dispute Resolution Institute, ranked in the top 5 dispute resolution programs in the nation for the 16th consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report.
After graduating from law school and the Dispute Resolution Institute, Ms. Schmidt went on to become the first female partner at Black and Rose, LLP, where she worked for over 6 years practicing workers' compensation defense law exclusively.
Office Manager/ Head Paralegal
Ms. Wert has over 6 years of dedicated experience in law firm administration in the areas of labor law, employment law, civil litigation and workers’ compensation defense. As the Human Resources contact, she specializes in team development of all staff including attorneys, hearing representatives, paralegals and other administrative personnel.
Ms. Wert also oversees all paralegal and assistive functions in the office to ensure client services are always provided in an exceptional manner.
Client Services Coordinator
As the firm’s Client Services Coordinator, Ms. Oros understands the importance of personal relationships within the legal field, working to ensure that all clients receive the best experience possible both inside and outside the courtroom. Coming from a background in business development for many years, she has merged the two areas together and has been successful in not only sustaining, but also building client relationships.
Forged in Workers' Compensation, Elliot Pease worked his way up from the file room to the courtroom at various law firms where he learned the nuts and bolts as well as the valuable legal strategies required to stronghold client interests before becoming an attorney.
Mr. Pease obtained his Juris Doctorate at San Joaquin College of Law located in the heart of the Golden State where Oak Trees tower to safeguard the Central Valley's precious crops from the sun. During law school he earned the Witkin Award of Academic Excellence for Advanced Legal Research & Writing while working full time in workers' compensation law.
Mr. Pease's small town values of hard work, loyalty and commitment to success both exemplify and resonate throughout the firm foundation that is The Oaks.
